If you’ve spent much time listening to me, you probably know I’m pretty opinionated about software freedom, and that despite my long history as a Mac user, I don’t currently use OS X or anything else Apple. There are a lot of reasons for this, and I do recognize that Apple has made some major contributions to the market (upping the smartphone ante by several orders of magnitude, pistolwhipping record companies into letting them sell DRM-free audio files, etc), but nonetheless it’s my opinion that Apple has, somehow, gone from their “Computer for the Rest of Us” roots to being one of the most abusive software or hardware vendors around.
There’s been a lot of press about that recently, so rather than rant about it I’ll just let the facts speak for themselves. Look for this post to grow as I collect more stories on this.
